Fading Snow

Fading Snow depicts a single night in the life of 35-year-old Mania, who abandons her sanctuary – the theatre – and embarks on a journey to find her way back home through the fractured cityscape of Warsaw, set against the stark backdrop of contemporary Poland. As the curtain falls, both personal and universal truths must be confronted. There is only what you can see.

Every human being knows the feeling of heartbreak. In such moments, an individual’s tragic event resonates with noticing other wounds in the surrounding reality.
Fading Snow, with its nightmarish structure, searches for hope that lies in confronting one’s own pain and Jungian shadow. The cure lies in facing darkness, opening ourselves to a state of not-knowing, to mystery, and in accepting profound loss. Strengthening happens through melting down.

Fading Snow is a diploma short fiction that I’ve written and directed under the supervision of Prof. Bronka Nowicka.
