Fading Snow
Fading Snow” follows 35-year-old Mania during a single night as she leaves her sanctuary—the theatre—and journeys through Warsaw’s fractured cityscape to find her way home, set against the backdrop of contemporary Poland. As the curtain falls, she must confront both personal and universal truths. There is only what you can see.
At its core, the film explores the universal experience of heartbreak, where personal tragedy heightens our awareness of the wounds in the world around us. Through its nightmarish structure, “Fading Snow” searches for hope in the confrontation with one’s own pain and Jungian shadow. The path to healing lies in facing darkness, embracing uncertainty and mystery, and accepting profound loss. True strength emerges through the process of breaking down.
“Fading Snow” is a short fiction film I wrote and directed as my diploma project under the supervision of Prof. Bronka Nowicka.
