Summer 2022
Instead of seeking answers from young people about their feelings, dreams, fears, and wishes, we focused on the questions that occupy their minds. We invited five teenagers to write letters to their future selves, to be opened on their 60th birthdays.
These letters reveal not only their plans but also their present-day anxieties. They contemplate whether pandas will still exist, if they’ll succeed in starting families, if they’ll find acceptance as transgender individuals. Their letters also contain moving reflections about planetary concerns and their mental health struggles.
This project was commissioned by the prestigious Sacrum Profanum music festival. The film emerged from a series of body workshops led by Agata Bargiel, whom I invited to collaborate. The film received significant attention, being screened multiple times before the festival’s major concerts.
